Information Collection

Gadget Repair is the sole owner of the information collected from www.GadgetRepair.biz.

Customer Orders

We request information from the user on our order form. A user must provide contact information such as name, email, and shipping address and financial information such as credit card number and expiration date. This information is used for billing purposes and to fill customers' orders. If we have trouble processing an order, the information is used to contact the user.

When you place an order, we will typically contact you in this order:
  • Email order confirmation
  • Notice of arrival (if you are shipping a gadget in for repair)
  • Diagnosis complete or contact us e-mail (if you are shipping an item in for repair)
  • Confirmation that we have authorization for further action
  • Notice of shipping to you
For processing of payments, Gadget Repair uses the services of American Express, Discover, MasterCard, Visa and PayPal. Each of these parties maintains their own guidelines for collecting and managing customer profile information. To view your credit card merchant's privacy policies and statements, refer to the contact information on the reverse side of your card.

Profile

We store information that we collect via browser cookies, log files, and/or third parties to create a profile of our users. A profile is stored information that we maintain for individual users that details their viewing preferences. Consequently, collected information is tied to the user's personally-identifiable information to provide offers and to improve the content of the web site for the user. This profile is used to tailor users' visits to our web site and to direct pertinent marketing promotions to them. We do not share user profiles with third parties.

Browser Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a user's computer for record-keeping purposes. We use cookies on this site. We do not link the information we store in cookies to any personally identifiable information you submit while on our site.

We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. We use session ID cookies to make it easier for you to navigate our site and to let us know what our visitors are interested in. A session ID cookie expires when you close you browser. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time. You can remove persistent cookies by following directions provided in your Internet browser's "help" file.

We set a persistent cookie to store your shopping basket, so you don't have to enter it more than once. Persistent cookies also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our site.

If you reject cookies, you may still use our site, but your ability to use some functions of our site, such as the shopping basket, will be limited. Cookies are used to store which items have been added to your basket and the ability to re-open the site at a later time with the same basket contents.

Third-Party Advertising

Gadget Repair does not employ third-party advertising on its web site, and therefore does not share data with third-party advertisers.

Log Files

Like most standard web site servers, we maintain log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/ exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user movement in the aggregate, and gather broad, aggregate demographic information.

Customer Service

We communicate with users on a regular basis to provide requested services and in regards to issues relating to their account. We reply via email or phone in accordance with our client's wishes.

Legal Disclaimer

Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order, or a legal process served on our web site.

Security

Gadget Repair takes every precaution to protect our users' information. When users submit sensitive information via the web site, their information is protected both on- and off-line. We are a verified secure site by Authorize.Net (Comodo).

Our order form requires users to enter sensitive information such as credit card number. That information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry - SSL. While on a secure page, such as our order form, the icon on the bottom right of Web browsers such as Safari, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to unlocked or open, when users are just 'surfing'. You can also check the address bar for an https:// rather than an http:// when on a page asking for sensitive information.

While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information on-line, we also do everything in our power to protect user information off-line. All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted within our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job, for example, our customer service representatives, are granted access to personally-identifiable information.

Clear Gifs (Web Beacons/Web Bugs)

In the future we may employ a software technology called clear gifs (a.k.a. Web Beacons/Web Bugs), that help us better manage content on our site by informing us what content is effective. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user's computer hard drive, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on Web pages or e-mail and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. We do not tie the information gathered by clear gifs to our customers' personally identifiable information.

In the future we may use clear gifs in our HTML-based emails to let us know which emails have been opened by recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. If you would like to opt-out of these emails, please see "Choice and Opt-out."

Links to Other Sites

This Web site contains links to other sites that are not owned or controlled by Gadget Repair. Please be aware that we, Gadget Repair, are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites.

We encourage you to read the privacy statements of each and every web site you visit that collects personally-identifiable information.

Choice/Opt-out

If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter and promotional communications, you may opt-out of receiving them by following the instructions included in each newsletter or communication or by emailing us at Info@GadgetRepair.biz.

Fraud

We take fraud seriously. It is a crime to purchase products with a false name or with the use of an invalid credit card - one that is created for the sole purpose of purchasing items illegally or using a credit card or its information, via theft or unauthorized use. It is also illegal to misuse the charge back process to take advantage of merchants. If you are a perpetrator of fraud, be aware that we will actively pursue and prosecute fraud offenders to the fullest extent of the law.

Although most fraud offenders use free e-mail services and false names, many are not aware that their web browser transmits a unique Internet address to us which can be used by law enforcement officials to identify and locate them. We will work with cardholders, credit card companies, and enforcement authorities to pursue fraud offenders.

We will submit all fraudulent orders sent to us to The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) for prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.

Notification of Changes

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement, the homepage, and other places we deem appropriate so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
